The degree of protection of electric actuators
On the label or label of the electric actuator, you will often see the logo of IP65, 66 or 67, such as the imported Electric Actuator of the ball valve of the American Viton VTON, which is marked with Level of protection IP67, which is the protection level.
When selecting the electric device, it is first necessary to determine the IP protection level of the electric device according to the working environment and use requirements. Generally, the electric drive device of the water supply and drainage system can be divided into outdoor type and indoor type according to the different working environment. The most common IP protection class for outdoor electric valve drives is IP54 or IP55, and the common IP protection class for indoor electric valve drives is IP43 or IP44. As a rule, the electric drive of the valve in the water supply and drainage system is not of the submersible type.
The IP protection level of the electric device shall be proposed and determined by the professional and technical personnel of water supply and drainage.
THE IP (INGRESS PROTECTION) PROTECTION RATING SYSTEM WAS DRAFTED BY THE IEC (INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSION). The enclosure protection level refers to the anti-foreign object and waterproof level of the shell of the Electric Actuator, which is represented by adding two digits after the letter IP, the first digit is represented by 1~6 and the second is indicated by 1~8 waterproof level. Electrical appliances are graded according to their dust-proof and moisture-proof characteristics. The external objects referred to here, including tools, human fingers, etc., should not touch the live parts of the electrical appliances to avoid electric shock. The IP protection level is composed of two numbers, the first number indicates the level of dust removal and prevention of foreign objects intrusion of the actuator, the second number indicates the degree of containment of the actuator against moisture and waterproof intrusion, the larger the number indicates the higher the protection level, and the protection level indicated by the two marked numbers is shown in Table 1 and Table 2:

1 Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 50mm Prevent the human body (such as the palm of the hand) from accidentally touching the parts inside the actuator. Prevents the intrusion of large objects (more than 50 mm in diameter).
2 Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 12 mm Prevent human fingers from touching the parts inside the actuator and prevent the intrusion of medium-sized (12 mm larger diameter) foreign objects.
3 Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 2.5mm Prevent the intrusion of tools, wires or similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm and contact the internal parts of the actuator.
4 Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 1.0mm Prevent the intrusion of tools, wires or similar small foreign objects with a diameter or thickness greater than 1.0mm from coming into contact with the internal parts of the actuator.
5 Dustproof Completely prevent the instruation of foreign objects, although it cannot completely prevent the dust from entering, but the amount of dust intrusion will not affect the normal operation of the actuator.
6 Dustproof Completely prevent the intrusion of foreign objects, and can completely prevent dust from entering.

0 No protection No protection.
1 Prevent dripping intrusion Water droplets (e.g. condensate) that drip vertically will not cause harmful effects on the actuator.
2 Prevent dripping intrusion when tilted at 15 degrees When the actuator is tilted from 15 degrees vertically, dripping water will not cause harmful effects on the actuator.
3 Prevent the intrusion of sprayed water Prevent rain, or prevent the sprayed water from entering the actuator at an angle of less than 60 degrees from the vertical.
4 Prevent the ingress of splashed water Prevent water from all directions from entering the actuator and causing damage.
5 Prevent the intrusion of the sprayed water Prevent the water shot from the nozzle in each direction from entering the actuator and causing damage.
6 Prevent the intrusion of large waves Actuators installed on the deck to prevent damage caused by the invasion of large waves.
7 Prevent the intrusion of water during immersion The actuator is immersed in water for a certain period of time or the water pressure is below a certain standard to ensure that it will not be damaged due to water ingress.
8 Prevent water intrusion during sinking The actuator is sunk indefinitely under water pressure to ensure that it is not damaged by water ingress.
The protection level of the electric actuator can be selected according to the level represented by the above two sets of numbers.
